New Keys For St. Joachim’s

The church and hall keys have been duplicated by so many people over the years that the number of keys in circulation is out of control. So, at the end of May, the locks for St. Joachim’s will be changed and new keys issued to members of our parish who need a key. The new keys will be special security lock keys which cannot be duplicated or loaned out to anyone at any time, and will be given to each individual for their use only. As, well, because of Diocesan church and insurance company regulations, no one will be able to receive a new key until they first provide us with an up-to-date police background check from the Saint John Police Department.

Any parishioner who needs a key to our facilities is asked to speak to Fr. Stephen before Sunday, May 12th. Police background checks will need to be completed and returned to Fr. Stephen by the end of May. Those who already have a background check on file with the Diocese for our ongoing Responsible Ministry protocol will NOT have to get another police check.

In order to get a police check you will need a letter of introduction from the parish – please contact the office for this letter, as well as for the procedure of getting a check. The $25 cost for the police check may be reimbursed by the parish.

Parish Council Nominations

Parish Council Elections will be held during Mass on Saturday, May 25th & Sunday, May 26th to elect 9 – 12 people who will form our new Parish Council. You are invited to nominate parishioners to represent you in decisions about social, pastoral, and spiritual aspects of our parish. Nomination forms are available at the church entrance; and must be returned to the parish office or Father Peter no later than Friday, May 10th so that a ballot can be prepared for the elections.
