Adult Catechesis – Week 9

Our next class is tomorrow, Thursday, March 8th, 7pm, in the parish hall. The topic will be “The Virgin Mary”. It is not necessary to have attended any of the previous weeks in order to participate. Job Opening

The Saint John Diocesan Cemeteries has an immediate opening for a Cemetery Crew Member. Job description and application instructions are available here. Application deadline is March 9th.

Religious Education

Due to the March Break, there will be no Religious Education classes, next weekend, March 11th. Classes for most students resume on March 18th. Please note that there will be no Confirmation class on March 18th.

St. Joachim’s Parish Mission

A St. Joachim’s Parish Mission in preparation for Holy Week will take place Tuesday, March 20th – Thursday, March 22nd. The Mission priest, Father George Gilliland from Prince Edward Island, will preside at noon Mass on those 3 days with a special homily followed by the main mission talk at 7pm each evening. Mark your calendar now so that you won’t miss out on this parish mission.

Lenten Ecumenical Service

An Anglican-Roman Catholic Ecumenical Service will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Main Street, on Sunday, March 25th at 3pm. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend this wonderful opportunity to get together with our Anglican brothers and sisters during this holy season.

Easter Flower Memorial

We are asking for your assistance as we decorate the church for Easter. We encourage you to make a donation towards our Easter flowers in memory of a loved one. Simply write the name(s) of those you would like to remember on an envelope. Please also indicate that the envelope is for “Flowers”, and include your envelope number. The names of all those being honored will be included in our Easter bulletin. Deadline for submission of names is Sunday, April 1st.

First Friday Holy Hour And Mass

The monthly First Friday Holy Hour will take place at St. Joachim’s on Friday, March 2nd from 11am – 12:30pm. The Holy Hour begins at 11am and will consist of exposition, adoration, and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament; concluding with 12 noon Mass.

Lenten Stations of the Cross

A community celebration of the Way of the Cross will take place in the church immediately following Friday 12 noon Mass during the Season of Lent.

Memorial Mass For Bishop MacDonald

Bishop Robert Harris will preside at a concelebrated Memorial Mass at the Cathedral on Thursday, March 1st, at 12:05pm for Bishop J. Faber MacDonald. You are invited to attend as we give thanks to God for Bishop Faber’s episcopal service to our diocese and entrust him to the Lord.

Parish Council Meeting

The next Parish Council meeting will be on Thursday, March 1st, 7pm, in the large classroom between the church vestry and the parish office. Use the parish office entrance.

Please note: Parish Council meetings are open to all parishioners who wish to attend as observers. If any parishioner would like to speak at a monthly meeting, or have an item placed on the agenda, please speak to the Chairperson, Robert Taylor, or contact the parish office (office@saintjoachims.com or 653-6852), ahead of time.
