Adoration will be held today, Sunday, October 6th, 2 – 4pm. All are welcome.
Religious Education
We would like to thank the 2 adults and 5 teenagers who attended last Sunday’s Religious Education meeting to volunteer to help out with the program this year. It was especially inspiring have such wonderful interest from the young people. We want to thank all who attended for their generosity.
However, in order for the Religious Education program to begin this year we need many more teachers and helpers. If there is anyone else who is able to assist us with this important parish program, it would be greatly appreciated. If interested, please call Father Peter (653-6842) as soon as possible.

K of C Memorial Mass
A Mass for Deceased Knights of Council 8364 will be held on Sunday, November 3rd, 11am at St. Joachim’s. This year’s ceremony will include a presentation of a Rose on behalf of the deceased by a family member or representative. All involved should be present at Mass at least 15 minutes prior to 11am.
Food Drive
K of C 8364 will be holding a food drive for the Saint John East Food Bank on Sunday, October 27th, from noon – to 5pm at the Rothesay Avenue Superstore. All parishioners are encouraged to drop by and support this worthy cause. For more information, call James (653-7302).
First Friday Holy Hour And Mass
The monthly First Friday Holy Hour will take place at St. Joachim’s, this Friday, October 4th from 11am – 12:30pm. The Holy Hour begins at 11am and will consist of exposition, adoration, and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament; concluding with 12 noon Mass.
Religious Education Meeting
We need all those who are able to assist in this year’s Religious Education program (teachers, helpers, coordinators) to please attend a meeting on Sunday, September 29th, immediately following the 11am Mass in the parish hall.
Given the poor attendance of our last meeting, the turnout at this meeting will determine whether we have enough volunteers to offer classes to all grades this year.
We ask that all parents consider becoming involved with our Religious Education program in some way. It is difficult to expect other parishioners to volunteer their time teaching the children if parents are unwilling to assist even one hour per week.
Zumba Gold
Zumba Gold classes have started again for the fall in the parish hall every Tuesday at 10am. Zumba Gold modifies the pace and the moves of regular Zumba classes making them easier for older or less active participants. Zumba Gold is only $5 per person. If you haven’t tried Zumba yet because you thought you might not be able to keep up, this is your chance to get in on the fun! Call Marie (696-8169) for more information.
Casino Fundraiser
K of C 8364 will be hosting a fundraiser to help support St. Joachim’s parishioner / Council 8364 member Kevin Marsden’s financial issues in dealing with Huntington’s Disease. Casino is on Saturday, October 5th, 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm), in the parish hall. Tickets are $30/person and are available from any member of K of C Council 8364.
Finance Committee
Next Finance Committee meeting will be on Tuesday, September 17th, 7pm.
